The Workshop

June 18 – 20, 2027

Fabiolous LAKE is a holistic freediving workshop in Germany.

It's designed for beginners and experienced freedivers alike who want to improve their equalization, refine their technique and develop a more structured approach in the water.

The workshop begins well before we meet at the lake:

Two preparatory video calls establish a shared understanding of techniques, terminology and exercises, allowing us to make the most of our focused, effective training sessions on site.

The focus is on consistent, repeatable procedures, precise movements and individual progress – regardless of depth or performance pressure.

Training in the lake provides a controlled environment where we can concentrate on what truly matters.

Training Focus & Methodology

The workshop follows a clear, technically focused training approach. At its core are equalization, precise movement patterns and a holistic understanding of technique, body awareness and breathing. The following key areas form the foundation of our lake training sessions and the preparatory work leading up to the workshop.

Understanding & Training Equalization

Equalization is at the heart of this workshop. We focus on systematic approaches that help you consciously understand, practice and consistently reproduce equalization techniques – regardless of depth.

We'll work with techniques including Instinctive and Evolved Frenzel, supported by targeted exercises for motor control, coordination and breath control.

Technique, Body Awareness & Movement Patterns

Good technique starts at the surface.

Throughout the workshop, we carefully analyze and refine body position, muscle tension, relaxation and movement patterns.

The lake provides a calm, controlled environment where you can develop consistent technique and make lasting progress without external pressure.

A Holistic Approach Rather Than a Focus on Depth

Fabiolous LAKE is not a depth-focused workshop.

The focus is on quality, control and long-term development – not on numbers or proving your performance.

By deliberately keeping dives shallower, we create space for precise technique, personalized feedback and meaningful progress in equalization.

Personalized Coaching & Analysis

Small groups allow for personalized coaching and targeted corrections.

Together, we review movement patterns, dive procedures and technical details, analyzing them in a clear, structured way.

This creates a training environment that encourages learning, knowledge sharing and long-term development.

Schedule & Preparation

The workshop is carefully structured to allow focused work on equalization.

Preparation, lake training and follow-up analysis are all closely connected.

Two Preparatory Video Calls

The workshop begins well before we meet at the lake. During two preparatory video calls, we cover theory, terminology and individual areas of focus together. Targeted dry exercises establish a solid foundation and allow us to make the most of our focused, effective training sessions on site.

Practical Training, Technique & Controlled Practice

Training takes place in a calm, controlled environment, with a focus on equalization, technique and body awareness. By deliberately keeping dives shallower, we create the conditions for precise, repeatable practice – without performance pressure.

Structured, Progressive & Clear

The workshop follows a clear three-day structure in which theory, practical training and analysis build on one another. Each day combines in-water training, theoretical understanding and dry exercises. We gradually explore the topics in greater depth – from fundamental equalization techniques to more advanced concepts. Analysis, reflection and targeted feedback are integrated throughout the entire process.

Understand, Apply & Take It Forward

Together, we analyze movement patterns, dive procedures and technical details to build a clear understanding of how they work together. Personalized feedback helps you apply what you've learned to your own training. The goal is sustainable progress that continues well beyond the workshop.

Location & Surroundings

The Fabiolous Base – a peaceful space for analysis, preparation and sharing experiences.

The Lake

The workshop takes place at a peaceful, clear-water lake that offers ideal conditions for focused freediving training. With no currents, boat traffic or external distractions, it provides a controlled environment where technique, equalization and movement patterns can be carefully observed and refined.

This carefully chosen setting allows you to focus entirely on quality, body awareness and precise execution – regardless of depth or performance pressure. The lake becomes a tool for long-term development rather than a place to chase numbers.

The Fabiolous Base

Located directly by the lake, the Fabiolous Base serves as our dedicated meeting point for theory sessions, dry exercises and recovery. It provides the organizational and educational foundation for the workshop, allowing us to work in a structured way both in and out of the water.

This is where we prepare, analyze and reflect on what we've learned. Between in-water sessions, the base offers space for discussion, targeted feedback and intentional breaks that support and deepen the learning process.

Accommodation & Dining

Accommodation

Camping is available directly at the Fabiolous Base by the lake. This option offers short distances, a relaxed daily routine and the opportunity to be fully immersed in the workshop experience.

Alternatively, you can find accommodation through Airbnb or popular booking platforms in the nearby towns of Ettenheim, Herbolzheim and Kenzingen.

We're happy to provide personal recommendations if needed.

Dining

Participants are responsible for their own meals and drinks. Please bring enough food and beverages for each training day.

In Ettenheim, you'll find supermarkets such as Kaufland, Aldi and Edeka, approximately five minutes away by car. There are also snack bars and restaurants nearby. Our shared breaks provide time to connect, recover and reflect on the training.

Tip:

If you'd like, you can easily extend your stay by a few extra days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most important questions about the workshop, its organization and training program.

Do I need a specific freediving certification?

The workshop is designed for freedivers with AIDA 2 / SSI Level 1 certification or equivalent experience. More important than formal certifications is a solid understanding of diving techniques, buoyancy control and fundamental open-water diving procedures.

How deep will we dive during the workshop?

Fabiolous LAKE is not a depth-focused workshop. We deliberately keep dives shallower to allow for precise, controlled training of technique, equalization and movement patterns. The actual diving depth is adapted individually to each participant's experience and how they feel on the day.

Do I need to prepare before the workshop?

Two preparatory video calls are included in the workshop. During these sessions, we cover theory, address individual questions and provide targeted dry exercises to ensure you're well prepared for your in-water training.

What equipment do I need?

You'll need standard freediving equipment (wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins and weight system). Specific training aids such as Otovent and Ototube are used during the workshop and will be explained in advance.

Is the workshop still beneficial if I can already equalize, but not always consistently?

Yes. This workshop is specifically designed for freedivers whose equalization generally works but isn't yet consistent, reliable or repeatable. The goal is to understand the underlying processes, develop consistency and gain more conscious control over your equalization.

Rather than simply adding new techniques, we focus on the fundamentals, transitions and subtle details that are often overlooked during regular training. This builds greater confidence, control and trust in your own equalization skills – regardless of depth or how you feel on the day.
